The Ride of the Valkyries is an episode from Season 3.
The episode was produced in 2001 and premiered on Cartoon Network in the United States on June 7, 2002.
Plot[]
As the episode opens, the Bagge Family are on holiday in Norway. Muriel and Courage are taking in the sights and enjoying themselves, but Eustace can't stand it. He throws his souvenir Valkyrie helmet at a Norwegian Blue bird, which attacks him and flies away with the helmet on its head. The bird is spotted by a trio of Valkyrie warriors. Believing the helmet belongs to their missing leader, one of them rides her flying horse to where the bird came from.
She arrives at the cabin the Bagges are staying in. Courage refuses to let her in due to her intimidating size, but she forces her way in. She sees Muriel wearing a similar helmet and mistakes her for Brunhilde. The Valkyrie whisks Muriel away on her horse with Courage in tow. The Valkyries are happy to see their "sister" but say that they need Muriel for tomorrow's battle with their arch-enemies, the Trolls. Muriel thinks this is all part of the vacation package and happily agrees to help them. Courage tries to sneak Muriel out that night, but is caught by the Valkyries. They believe he is a spy sent by the trolls and kick him out of their castle.
Courage lands in a swamp and is captured by trolls, who think he is a spy sent by the Valkyries. They try to cook him for dinner, but are interrupted by the approaching Valkyries and Muriel. Muriel drops her weapon and is about to be attacked by a troll, but Courage manages to save her and escape to a cave with everyone in pursuit. Inside the cave, Courage and Muriel find the real Brunhilde and the Troll King together. They apparently had been meeting in secret and are in love. They aren't sure what to do about their warring groups, but Courage gets an idea.
When the Valkyries and trolls arrive, they see their leaders in the middle of a wedding ceremony, with Courage officiating. The two groups are touched by the display and toss their weapons away, ending the war. They ask Muriel and Courage to join them for a feast to celebrate. The episode closes with the Norwegian Blue roasting Eustace on a spit.
